Mary MacKillop and the Path of the Foundress
Author/Artist: CARRIE LOCK
ISBN-10: 1923033212
ISBN-13: 9781923033214
Publisher: St Pauls Publications
Binding: PAPERBACK
Price: AU$34.95
Description: There is much that is unique in the life of St Mary MacKillop, the co- foundress of the Sisters of Saint Joseph of the Sacred Heart. Her story should not, however, be viewed in isolation. She is part of a long tradition of women who responded to a divine call to serve God and those most in need by founding a religious institute.

In identifying themes in the lives of fifty foundresses - with a particular study of St Mary MacKillop - this book uncovers the many qualities these very human saints share. Their stories, while different, have much in common including times of darkness, struggle, challenge and opposition, intermixed with experiences of love, joy and a peace the world cannot give.

Their lives are an inspiration for all of us as we seek to live out our own God-given calling in life.

Newman: The Heart of Holiness
Author/Artist: RODERICK STRANGE
ISBN-10: 1529362628
ISBN-13: 9781529362626
Publisher: Hodder & Stoughton
Binding: PAPERBACK
Price: AU$24.99
Description: Roderick Strange brings his own lifetime of learning and studying of Newman to offer a portrait of Newman's interior life. That is, his intimacy with God and his understanding of Christ, which led him to rejoice in the gift of the Eucharist. He explores how Newman's interior life had its outworking in his pastoral ministry serving others.

This understanding of Newman's spirituality and legacy, suggests the author, might offer us an apologia for our own times, one in which we realise the connection between the sacred and the secular, one in which our faith can sustain us through the inevitable troubles of life, and in which we can cultivate a perceptiveness peculiar to faith, a perceptiveness that helps us recognise the gifts of the Spirit we have received as people who 'watch for Christ'.

This book, therefore, is an attempt to peel back the layers of Newman's spirituality to explore respectfully the heart of his holiness.

Magnifica Humanitas: On Safeguarding the Human Person in the Time of Artificial Intelligence
Author/Artist: POPE LEO XIV
ISBN-10: 1923033271
ISBN-13: 9781923033276
Publisher: St Pauls Publications
Binding: PAPERBACK
Price: AU$14.95
Description: The Vatican released Magnifica Humanitas, Latin for "Magnificent Humanity", on 25 May 2026, making it the first papal encyclical devoted primarily to artificial intelligence. Pope Leo XIV, signed the 42,300-word document at St Peter's Basilica on 15 May 2026, exactly 135 years after his namesake Pope Leo XIII published Rerum Novarum, the foundational 1891 encyclical on labour rights during the Industrial Revolution.

On 25 May at the Vatican, theologian Anna Rowlands presented key themes from Pope Leo XIV?s encyclical Magnifica humanitas, focused on protecting human dignity in the age of artificial intelligence. Rowlands described the document as an urgent moral intervention, arguing that society can no longer delay confronting the social, political, and economic consequences of AI. She stressed that decisions about technology must not be left solely to corporations or profit-driven systems, but should include the voices of workers, migrants, families, and communities most affected by digital change.

Rowlands warned against "posthuman" visions that treat people as replaceable parts within algorithmic systems, emphasizing instead the value of human limitation, solidarity, and participation. She said the encyclical challenges the world to recover a shared moral imagination rooted in justice, love, and the common good. Ultimately, she presented Magnifica humanitas as both a critique of technological domination and an invitation to build a more humane and compassionate society together.
